The Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD)
Australia is a member of the OECD Tourism Committee which serves as an international forum that develops and links tourism policy with other policy areas of mutual concern for developed economies. With member countries representing some 70 per cent of world tourism trade, the Tourism Committee provides an opportunity for Australia to garner international cooperation and support on a range of global tourism issues and to make use of the OECD’s technical expertise in economic analysis. Activities are focused on the following policy-oriented work:
- trade liberalisation
- removal of impediments to tourism industry development
- addressing contemporary issues
- statistical information to better assess the economic contribution of tourism industry development
