Tourism

The Australian Government is committed to maximising tourism's net economic contribution to the Australian economy and to fostering an industry that promotes the principles of environmental responsibility and sustainable development.
Template Labour Agreement

A template Labour Agreement has been proposed for the tourism and hospitality industry to improve industry access to semi and highly skilled overseas workers in occupations identified as being in critical shortage. A discussion paper on the proposal (see below) was released in early 2012 seeking industry comments on the list of eligible occupations, salary, skill level and English language requirements. The discussion paper is now closed for comment.

The Department of Immigration and Citizenship is reviewing industry submissions and investigating options to meet the skills needs of tourism and hospitality employers with a view to having any new arrangements in place by the end of 2012.

Copies of industry submissions received on the proposed template Labour Agreement for the tourism and hospitality industry are provided below.
