About the project
The Welcoming Chinese Visitors project has been developed through the provision of $600,000 under the T-QUAL Strategic Tourism Investment Grants program, which has a requirement for matching cash.
The project aims to develop a range of Chinese cultural awareness and export ready training and support programs for the Australian tourism industry to improve service quality and enhance the capacity of industry to better understand and service the Chinese traveller.
This will be achieved through a nationally recognised training curriculum, a national system of trainers, an online academy and research and promotion activities to ensure awareness of the program.
Collaborating with AVANA on this program are China Ready & Accredited, the Australian Tourism Export Council (ATEC) and TAFE NSW – Western Sydney Institute.
Avana Learning Pty Ltd will be responsible for ensuring that the project continues after the Strategic Tourism Investment Grant's funding period—either under their own management or by establishing other suitable ongoing governance arrangements.
