About the department's resources programs

The Department of Resources, Energy and Tourism administers a number of programs aimed at assisting the resources sector to develop internationally competitive and sustainable industries.

The current programs administered by the department's Reources Division are:

  • Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative (EITI)
    The Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative (EITI) is a voluntary mechanism which promotes and supports improved governance in resource-rich countries through the full publication and verification of company payments and government revenues from oil, gas, and mining.

  • Leading Practice Sustainable Development Program for the Mining Industry
    The Leading Practice Sustainable Development Program for the Mining Industry program supports the sustainable development of the Australian mining industry.

  • Working in Partnership
    The Working in Partnership (WIP) initiative supports and encourages cultural change in relations between Indigenous communities and the mining industry, and promotes long term, effective partnerships which benefit all stakeholders.
