In Salah Gas is the largest natural gas development project in Algeria
. It entails the development of seven gas fields in southern central Algeria. The project, which has been on stream since July 2004, includes the injection of around 1 million tonnes of CO2 into the reservoir each year making it the world’s first large-scale carbon dioxide storage project in a gas reservoir. It is estimated that 17 million tonnes will be geologically stored over the life of the project.
