Areas W07-16 and W07-17

Exmouth Plateau, Carnarvon Basin

Location

Areas W07-16 and W07-17 are located on the Exmouth Plateau, part of the Northern Carnarvon Basin, approximately 145 km offshore of Dampier, Western Australia (Figure 1). These release areas are close to the giant North Rankin/Perseus gas accumulation and the Mutineer/Norfolk and Exeter oil accumulations.

Area W07-16 contains 7 graticular blocks covering an area of approximately 565 km2, while Area W07-17 contains 9 graticular blocks covering an area of approximately 730 km2.

Water depths reach a maximum of about 400 m in the western part of the release areas.
