International Partnership for Hydrogen and Fuel Cells in the Economy

About the IPHE

The International Partnership for Hydrogen and Fuel Cells in the Economy (IPHE) provides a forum for international government cooperation and information sharing in advancing hydrogen and fuel cell technologies.

The IPHE was established to advance the transition to a hydrogen economy.

The IPHE works to:

  • progress policies
  • develop common technical codes and standards; and
  • educate stakeholders on the benefits and challenges of integrating hydrogen technologies into the marketplace.

The IPHE is comprised of the Steering Committee and the Implementation-Liaison Committee (ILC). The Steering Committee is a higher-level policy-oriented forum which sets the strategic direction of the Partnership. The Steering Committee helps to foster collaborations and access resources by influencing policy and decision makers.

The Steering Committee provides guidance to the ILC. The ILC oversees working groups which focus on the technical aspects of the hydrogen economy and developing collaborative activities.

Timeline

The IPHE was formed in 2003 for a ten year term. In November 2003, Australia was made a founding member of the partnership.

Originally named the International Partnership for the Hydrogen Economy, the partnership changed its official title to the International Partnership for Hydrogen and Fuel Cells in the Economy in December 2009.
