The Department of Resources, Energy and Tourism provides advice and policy support to the Australian Government regarding Australia's resources, energy and tourism sectors. The Department develops and delivers policies to increase Australia's international competitiveness, consistent with the principles of environmental responsibility and sustainable development.
Pay and Conditions

Salary

The department offers the following salary benefits:

  • a competitive commencement salary of $48,548;
  • upon successful completion of the 2011 Graduate Development Program, a guaranteed permanent position, with a salary of $58,907;
  • a bonus based on performance at the successful completion of the program.

Moving to Canberra?

Moving to a new city brings a range of challenges, from finding a place to live to changing over your licence and registration. To help our graduates to settle in quickly and minimise out of pocket expenses the department offers:

  • up to 21 days temporary accommodation while you look for long term accommodation
  • uplift of furniture, household and personal goods (and storage if required during temporary accommodation)
  • one-off allowance of $500 for individuals or $1,000 for families to help with relocation costs
  • access to a salary advance to the value of four weeks rent for rental bond if requested
  • access to a facility to contact other graduates offered employment in 2011 (on an opt in basis) to help you get to know others on the program and potentially facilitate share arrangements for interested people.
