Career History:
I have worked in various roles, from a Duty Manager at a hotel, to a Nanny in London, as well as records management for the WA Director of Public Prosecutions. Why did you chose the Department of Resources Energy and TourismI applied for the Department of Resources, Energy and Tourism graduate program as I majored in Tourism Management and had an interest in sustainable tourism practices and policy. The graduate program provides beneficial training throughout the program to ensure graduate development in areas such as writing and presentation skills, awareness of accountabilities as a public servant, contract legalities and team work. One of the best things about this role is the unexpected challenges that come up, whether it is a task from the Minister, the media or Parliament. I have also been afforded travel opportunities to attend conferences and meet stakeholders. The Department ensures staff development opportunities and continuing further studies is also encouraged and I will be looking at doing a Masters degree in the near future to further progress my policy career. I aim to experience many different areas of policy development and program management particularly with an International focus through out my career. During the graduate program I have been kept busy with the interstate move, finding a home, making new friends, new work environments, training and gaining an understanding of government processes in Canberra. |
