The Department of Resources, Energy and Tourism provides advice and policy support to the Australian Government regarding Australia's resources, energy and tourism sectors. The Department develops and delivers policies to increase Australia's international competitiveness, consistent with the principles of environmental responsibility and sustainable development.
Vacation Program

The RET Vacation Program provides university students the opportunity to develop work experience within the Department and the wider Australian Public Service.

Employment is offered as a non-ongoing employee at the APS 2 level (Salary range $41,256 - $45,939 PA) for a period of up to three months during the summer break

Eligibility requirements for candidates applying for the vacation employee should include:

  • having completed at least their first year of study
  • working toward a degree of interest to RET
  • a solid academic performance (for example, a credit average)
  • Australian citizenship
  • the capacity to obtain a protected security clearance.
